After blocking mail.google.com from the HTML Validator plugin, all has been rosey for the last for weeks.

		<description>I'm not really surprised about GMail and Firebug. Firebug can be enabled and disabled on a site by site basis. Personally, I disable it for every site, then 'Allow' my development servers. It can then be enabled again if you need to use it on any other site.</description>

		<description>Disabled Firebug as directed, and Gmail continues to work fine.
Didn't noticed any speed changes.

Hadn't ever opened Firebug on Gmail, but did so after they asked me to close it, and the code looked a bit messy.

BTW, the work laptop has Win2000 (!), and Gmail hasn't noticed Firebug. Weird.</description>
