Quick SEO meta tag testing bookmarklet
In order to test the title and meta information of a lot of web sites, some testers asked me for a simple way to get that information without having to look at the source.
I quickly whipped up a bookmarklet that shows the title and any meta information with a name attribute and their lengths in a dynamically generated “sticky note” overlay.
Simply drag the “meta information link on this page”:http://icant.co.uk/sandbox/getmetabookmark.html to your browser link toolbar to have it for your testing needs.

Oh, nice! We’ve been adding a lot of meta information to our redesigned pages, and this bookmarklet is a lovely way to quickly see what’s there and what’s missing. Check it out on any one of the water science pages at US EPA.
(Note: the absolutely positioned sidebar obscures the meta information, so I modified the style:
position: relative; z-index: 10;Works like a charm!)

@Binny – title and description are still useful, just keyword is pretty useless.
Great little bookmarklet!

Meta tags may not be useful for Google and Yahoo. However these 2 search engines are not the only search engines. Thousands of search engines are available on net. Most of the search engines like Meta tags. So the above information is useful for web developers.

Nowadays meta tags are not very useful for search engines.
Backlinks and on-page optimation are more important and that
are the two main points what you must note when you get a good
position in google SERPS
